When one thinks of garden fountains the first impression most will get is of a traditionally tiered statue type garden fountain. However there are many other styles and types of fountain available. Modern materials are now used in garden fountain manufacture, such as steel, resin and glass.
Traditional style garden fountains are still available, many being manufactured by cast stone (which is a mixture of stone and concrete that is poured into a cast to form the shape of a fountain.) This style of fountain has been in the past 20 years the most popular type of garden fountain. However, in recent years its popularity has reduced with the introduction of the new modern materials and styles.
Garden fountains have now been brought in line with home interior goods, with the introduction of more contemporary lines and styles of fountains now being available. The new materials such as steel and granite have introduced new styles in garden fountain. Due to the nature of the two materials, it is more common to have sculpture type garden fountains, such as stainless steel flat panels and contemporary carved granite water sculptures.
